WordPress Update/Plugins Error on GoDaddy Account

Recently I had a problem with one of the subdomain blogs I am hosting on my GoDaddy account. When I tried to update to a new version of wordpress, tried to change the permalinks, or add plugins it would ask for:
GoDaddy WordPress error
Host Name:
Username:
Password:
Connection Type:

After entering my password several times it kept giving me the same error:

Downloading install package from http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/adminimize.zip. Warning: touch() [function.touch]: Unable to create file D:\Hosting\wp\WORDPRESS OR PLUGIN NAME.zip because Permission denied in D:\Hosting\wp\wp-admin\includes\file.php on line 175 Download failed.

Could not create Temporary file To fix this problem you need to:

1. Go into your GoDaddy hosting account
2. Click the Content Tab and scroll down to File Manager
3. Next click the box next on the domain or sub-domain that holds the WordPress Blog
4. Above the list of domains there is an option bar, click the restrictions button
5. Make sure Write and Read are both have a checkmark in the boxes
6. Click OK and you are done

I hope this helps!!

  4. Hi. This is a great solution, but I see a problem here. If I give access to my wordpress root folder, both read and write, don’t you think it is a little dangerous? Like wp-config file, which holds my user name and password for the database etc?

  9. Yeah, I have had that problem, where I enjoy the post, but I have no experience with the subject, . So when I have time I try to think of something to say and when I don’t I move along wishing I did.
